Psalms For Psalms- Day 53

Psalms 53- In The Days of Their Youth

Is there anyone who trusts in God?
All I can can see are fools
Who claim there is no God
Following their own rules

God looks from heaven
At the children of man
To see if anyone trusts
Or follows His plan

Yet, all have fallen away
Running from Your truth
Choosing their own way
In the days of their youth

God, restore the fortunes of Your people
Bring us from this sadness
Turn our weeping into dancing
Give Israel hearts of gladness

Psalms For Psalms- Day 52

Simple truths this morning.

Evil prevails temporarily

But God is the victor in the end

Trust in His Goodness

Wait on His Holy name.

Psalms 52- Wait On Your Name

The mightiest man may boast of evil

He is a worker of deceit

Lying more than speaking what’s true

Does he know God can’t be beat?

Evil men love words that devour

Their hearts have deceitful bent

God uproots them from the land of living

Plucking them from their tent

When we trust in our own riches

Things may go our way

But eventually wealth fades

Leaving us with nothing to say

But I trust in You God

Giving You all the glory and fame

Your steadfast love is forever

May we always wait on Your name

Psalms For Psalms- Day 51

Lust makes you feel sick in the insides and out.

A throbbing pain that leaves you contemplating everything in life

A grossness that sticks on your body, heart and soul.

I can imagine very clearly how David felt after committing lustful sin with Bathsheba. Why? Because I too have struggled with lust through the years.

His prayer becomes so much more meaningful and impactful when you understand the weight of sin and the heaviness of lust on a man’s heart.

Lord, would You wash us all from our iniquities and cleanse our hearts with Your severe mercy and grace.

Psalms 51- Give My Heart To Thee

In man’s darkest moments

God knows our way

Not as a sinner

But His child who wandered away

Our sins are ever before You

We have done evil in your sight

Wash me thoroughly God

Cleanse me and show me what is right

You delight in truth

From the inward being

Wisdom in the secret heart

Is the only thing worth seeing

Wash me whiter than snow

Let me hear joy and gladness

Take these broken bones

And remove my sadness

Create in me a clean heart

Renew a right spirit in me

Restore the joy of my salvation

Giving my heart to Thee

Psalms For Psalms- Day 50

Psalms 50- Sit By Aslan’s Mane

You spoke the earth from nothing

You made the sun to rise

You told the evening sun to set

You created the heavens and skies

Out of Zion you shine forth

Like a beaming beacon of light

You are not silent Lord

You are a God of might

The heavens declare Your righteousness

Your works proclaim Your name

May all people gather to You

And sit by Aslan’s mane

I was desolate, wicked

beyond all repair

A wanderer without future

Yet You heard my prayer

When we call on You, You answer

Like a Father gathering up his child

You do not rebuke us harshly

But love us, tender and mild

Let us make thanksgiving and praise You

Your name we forever praise

Jesus, we love You today and always

To You our hearts do pray

Psalms For Psalms- Day 49

I haven’t read a more convicting passage than Psalms 49

“Be not afraid when a man becomes rich
When the glory of his house increases
For when he dies he will carry nothing away
His glory will not go down after him
For though, while he lives
He counts himself blessed
And though you get praise when you do well for yourself
His soul will go to the generation of his fathers
Who will never again see light”

God, I am so quick to fall to the riches and things of this world, but none of these things last.

Fill my heart with You and nothing else. Be a spring in my heart that never runs my soul dry. Help me taste but a sampling of Your goodness that I forget about the things of the world.

How I look at silly things like baseball cards. But God wants me fully.

Today is the best day to seek God with our whole heart. Bow before Him. Worship the throne. Leave behind the things of the world and chase Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith

Psalms 49- For All I Have is Thine

Men try to conquer the world
Though they succeed for a time
It soon fades like the grass
And they won’t keep a dime

Even wise men perish
Fools succumb to health
Rich men fall fast too
Leaving behind their wealth

Nothing remains when we die
After everything we earnestly sought
All we toiled to gain
Our glory will fade to nought

Christ is our only answer
His Grace is forever mine
I give to You my heart and soul
For all I have is Thine

Psalms For Psalms- Day 48

Pour Over Me

Rain comes
Sweeping the earth and ground.
All is quiet
Except the pattering sound
How sweet is the stillness
Refreshing to the bones.
When the day is darkest
Rain pours on
Lighting strikes
Gathering in anger
But then, silence
Out of the storms ending
Light shines through
Hope arises
Jesus has come
We are washed clean
Son of God pour over me.

Psalms 48- God’s Holy Hill

Towering in all it’s beauty
Stands God’s Holy Hill
Joy extending to the nations
Everything else lies still

Unmovable, abiding forever more
Your steadfast love will always endure
Our hearts fill with gladness
Christ’s death is the cure

Consider Zion, all of its depth
Tell generations to come
That this is our God and Savior
Whom all life abounds from

Psalms For Psalms- Day 47

Last night I sat with my boys by their bedside and gave them their night time blessing.

“May the Lord Bless you
And Keep You
May His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
May He turn His face towards you
And give you peace
Amen

I give them that blessing to remind them that God is who we need to draw our hearts on. We need to praise the One who gives us peace, peace that will satisfy our hearts more than anything else in this world.

My prayer is that we could praise God in the morning, during the day, in the evening, and at all times.

We used to say a phrase at camp that stuck with me…

“All the time, God is good
And God is good, all the time”

May we walk in the goodness of God and proclaim His excellencies!

Psalms 47- Praise in the Morning Dawn

From the morning dawn

To the setting sun

We will sing to God

Until the day is done

We will praise Him with psalms

Every word giving meaning

For God cares for our souls

Every heart He is gleaning

He is exalted forever

The Lord Most High

God reigns for eternity

All Heaven, earth and skies
